The International Dentist Program and the Advanced Standing Program offered by Kornberg School of Dentistry aim to provide the required Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA) certified education and examinations for Foreign Trained Dentists to be able to practice in the United States of America.

Dentists graduating from schools all over the world apply to various American Dental Schools via a centralized online application portal called CAAPID. Each school has different requirements that have to be met to be considered for admission. The minimal requirement is to Pass the National Board Dental Examination (NBDE) Part 1 and to give the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) attaining the minimum required score or above.

The applicants for these programs come from various backgrounds ranging from US citizens who received education in a foreign country to permanent residents and even foreign citizens who have never visited the US.

Owing to the highly competitive nature of the application process and the absence of a unified linear process for every school, it is very difficult to gather all the information one would like to have while applying. Temple ASDA recognizes this hurdle faced by every aspiring Advanced Standing student. In order to help our student community, Temple ASDA hosts an annual Advanced Standing Day.

This event aims to provide an invaluable opportunity for international applicants to not only visit Temple University Kornberg School of Dentistry but to also get to know various experiences of our International students regarding the application process and their journey through dental school here in the U.S. The event is led by the current Advanced Standing Students informed about the academic and clinical curriculum so that participants are introduced to Temple University Kornberg School of Dentistry in a more personal manner. They also have the opportunity to interact with the Admissions Director and current Advanced Standing Students, which help them gain a better understanding of the application process for Temple University as well as the application process in general itself.
